How to Load/Install My Library?
1. Loading Libraries in Standalone Mode
When using Kontakt in standalone mode (i.e., running it without a DAW), you can load libraries in the following ways:
Method 1: Using the Kontakt Browser
- Open Kontakt in standalone mode.
- In the Kontakt interface, find the Browser section, usually located on the left side.
- Navigate to the library location on your hard drive. You can do this through the File Browser.
- Once you find the library folder, double-click the .nki file to load the instrument into Kontakt.
Method 2: Drag and Drop
- Open Kontakt in standalone mode.
- Open the folder on your file system where the .nki file you want to load is located.
- Drag the .nki file from your file explorer and drop it into the Kontakt window. The instrument will load automatically.
2. Loading Libraries as a VST in a DAW
If you use Kontakt as a VST plugin within a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), here’s how to load libraries:
Method 1: Using the Kontakt Browser
- Open your DAW and load Kontakt as a VST plugin on a track.
- Open the Kontakt interface from the DAW.
- In the Browser section of Kontakt, locate the folder of the library you want to load.
- Double-click the .nki file to load the instrument.
Method 2: Drag and Drop
- Open your DAW and load Kontakt as a VST plugin on a track.
- In the Kontakt window, open the file explorer on your system.
- Drag the .nki file from the file explorer and drop it into the Kontakt window to load the instrument.
3. Double-Clicking .nki Files
- Method: From the File Explorer
- Navigate to the location of the .nki file on your file system.
- Double-click the .nki file.
- If Kontakt is properly installed and configured on your system, the .nki file will automatically open in Kontakt.
4. Dragging .nki Files into the Kontakt Program
- Method: Drag and Drop
- Open Kontakt in standalone mode or within your DAW.
- Open a file explorer window where the .nki file is located.
- Drag the .nki file from the file explorer and drop it into the Kontakt window to load the instrument.
Additional Notes:
- Library Folders: Make sure that the folder containing the .nki files is well-organized and accessible from Kontakt for easier navigation and instrument loading.
