ABOUT US - The Saga of Heroes Sound
Greetings, brave sound adventurers! I am Luis Angel Pisfil, self-proclaimed “Hero,” the soul and spirit behind Heroes Sound. From the legendary land of Peru, in southern America, I have dedicated my life to creating sound monuments that defy time and space.
The Beginning of an Adventure
My journey began in 2001 when I first picked up a guitar. It was the start of a burning passion that led me to explore the vast universe of music and production.
Between 2003 and 2005, a powerful flame ignited in my heart: the ardent desire to record my first album of heavy metal, power metal, neoclassical, symphonic, and melodic music. Back then, finding companions willing to traverse this musical path in my small town was a titanic, almost impossible task. I decided to embark on this odyssey alone. However, I soon encountered a hurdle: the instruments I longed for were treasures too costly. I didn’t just want one, but a legion of them, each with its own character, destined to forge the most epic sounds of the music I loved so much.
In 2004, I began experimenting with recordings and mixing using modest home equipment and cassette mini-components. Although my first digital adventures in 2005 ended with a broken computer (sorry, brother!), it was a crucial step toward mastering my craft.
Honorable Mention
In 2011, the desire to create something truly unique drove me to make my first samples, dreaming of a future where they would become the heart of powerful virtual musical instruments. Soon after, I discovered Hydrogen, a remarkable program by Alessandro Cominu that allowed me to imagine the possibility of musical instruments existing in a virtual form. “Thank you for inspiring me to want to learn programming.”
The Wonder That Sparked a Passion
The year 2012 was a turning point in my life. I was completely astonished when I saw a YouTube video showcasing a VSTi plugin called EZdrummer by Toontrack. That was the first time I saw a virtual instrument capturing the essence of a real drum kit, and from that moment, I knew my destiny was tied to creating musical tools that would facilitate sound production worldwide.
My Unyielding Spirit
In 2014, I made the definitive decision to create my first virtual musical instrument, embarking on a journey that has known no rest since then. This is not just the beginning of a journey; it is the birth of a legacy, forged with every sacrifice and sleepless hour.
I didn’t know English, not even the basics, but that didn’t stop my determination. I didn’t stop studying and working tirelessly, funding my projects with sweat and effort. I have worked as a cook, musician, and drywall installer, always with one purpose: to make Heroes Sound’s dreams come true, without neglecting my family.
Time became a luxury I could not afford. I slept between 2 to 4 hours a day, not because I had an abundance of energy, but because my passion for this project surpassed any need for rest. Since 2014, I set out to learn programming, a battle I fought unsuccessfully for years. Until the end of 2016, my libraries for Kontakt lacked a graphical user interface and even basic programming. It seemed that fate was testing me at every turn. I especially thank George Ramga, who helped me understand a bit about Kontakt programming, knowledge that would later be essential for developing my programming logic.
Between 2018 and 2019, my life suffered a devastating blow. I lost almost everything, a painful topic I cannot detail, but it marked my path. Still, I did not give up. I saved my projects and files on hard drives, waiting for the day when the storm would pass, and I could resume them with the strength that only comes from surviving the abyss.
It was in that moment, in the solitude of a rented room, with a basic laptop and a mattress on the floor, that the magic was finally born. What I could not learn in over four years of hard work, I mastered in just two months; for the first time in this journey I embarked on, I learned the logic of programming. Although I no longer had anything material and struggled to survive, I felt happy to learn programming; that small part of my life was called happiness. That small victory, amidst the chaos, became the pillar that sustained my spirit.
Today, I can show the world what Heroes Sound means to me, a manifestation of perseverance, sacrifice, and an unyielding spirit. This is just the beginning of an epic saga, forged in the darkest moments and destined to shine for eternity.
Heroes Sound is not just my personal and commercial brand; Heroes Sound is my child, born from my dreams and efforts, and I named it as such sometime in 2017.
For this reason, when I talk about Heroes Sound, I am not referring to an abstract entity; I speak of us, an extension of my being, of a legacy that transcends the personal.
Forging Legends
The year 2015 marked a milestone for me when, thanks to a musician and producer friend, “Javier Hernández,” I was introduced to another honorable musician and producer named “Juan Antonio.” The latter made me discover the power of Native Instruments’ Kontakt and the magnificent libraries from Embertone, such as Friedlander Violin. This encounter ignited an unquenchable passion within me for the creation of virtual instruments, driving me to study the KSP Script language in depth.
In 2016, with new knowledge and better resources, I began crafting my first libraries for Kontakt, using instruments I had already recorded and sampled, creating organs, drums, vintage keyboards, leads, and more. Each creation was sculpted with dedication, perfectionism, effort, and passion.
A Legacy of Perseverance
In 2020, I completed my first complete library for Kontakt, a moment of triumph after years of hard work, combining my knowledge of recording, production, editing, programming, and design for the first time. However, the journey did not end there. In 2022, I embarked on a new challenge: building this website, a sanctuary to share my works with the world.
Now, the next step is to learn English and escape from Latin America. “Get me out of here! xD” =P
I long to live and work in Sweden; I have even visualized it in my dreams!!
